Bicephalous : Having two heads.
BICEPHALY PICTURES wants to tell stories that are divergent, exquisite and bursting with life.
In 2010 writer/director Ani Simon-Kennedy and cinematographer Cailin Yatsko met in Prague and a year later launched their boutique production company in New York. Hailing from Paris and Arkansas respectively, they’ve been traveling the world storytelling ever since.
Their first feature film Days of Gray (2015) was shot in the primordial landscapes of Iceland. Set in a dystopian future where language has been forgotten, the Boy (David Laufdal Arnarsson) must transcend humanity’s isolation to forge a friendship with an outlier (Dilja Valstoddir). The soundtrack by Hjaltalin, a seven-piece orchestral band, was nominated for Best Score at the Icelandic Film Awards and won Best Album at the Icelandic Music Awards. A post-apocalyptic fable with a live score, it screened at festivals worldwide and was hailed by critics as a major artistic debut.
The Short History of the Long Road (2020), their sophomore feature, is a drama set against the the sun-dappled vistas of New Mexico. Transient teenager Nola (Sabrina Carpenter) has only ever known life on the road with her father (Steven Ogg). When she sets out to find her mother (Maggie Siff), she discovers a new kind of kinship through garage owner Miguel (Danny Trejo) and Blue (Jashaun St. John). The film premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival where it received a Special Mention for Best Screenplay and was released by FilmRise. The film’s screenplay now resides at the Academy’s library.
Currently Bicephaly Pictures is in development on several projects for film and television.
